Coding tools Advanced Open source Open core

An autonomous coding agent, formerly OpenDevin, built to take on feature-sized tasks end to end. It runs each task in an isolated Docker sandbox, and works with local models for a fully self-hosted agent.

Strengths

  • Handles larger, multi-step tasks more autonomously than in-editor tools
  • Isolated Docker runtime contains what the agent can touch
  • Can run entirely locally with a capable model, keeping code in-house

Weaknesses

  • Autonomous agents still go wrong, and need review of what they produce
  • Docker-based setup is heavier than an editor extension
  • Demands a strong model, so modest local hardware limits results
